In order to become a member of the initiative it is essential that the expert has either used the Quadriceps tenton autograft for Ligament reconstruction in surgical practice or/and has published papers on the subject.

Orthopedic, Trauma surgery and Sports medicine
Dr Peter Balcarek studied at the Universities of Magdeburg, Canberra – University of Sydney, and Göttingen. He received his MD at the University Medical Center of Göttingen (UMG) in 2002 and completed a specialisation in Orthopaedics and Traumatology (Prof. K.M. Stürmer/Prof. K.-H. Frosch) in 2010. He acquired further knowledge during his specialty training including an AO fellowship at the Rashid Trauma Center, Dubai (Prof. Peter Messner/Prof. Bernd Claudi) and attained additional qualification in Special Trauma Surgery in 2015. From 2010 to 2015 he headed the Division of Knee and Shoulder Surgery, Sports Traumatology at the Department of Traumatology and Orthopaedics, Göttingen. In 2013 Dr. Balcarek earned a PhD for his work on patellofemoral instability. Currently, he works as a Senior Consultant for Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery at the Arcus Sports Clinic in Pforzheim, Germany.
His clinical and scientific interests focus on reconstructive knee surgery with special interest related to the patellofemoral joint. Dr. Balcarek has authored and co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles and numerous book chapters. He has given over 100 national and international conference presentations, lectures and demonstrations. He is also an established member of the following professional associations and serves as an active member in committees of the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA), the Association for Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery (AGA), and he is a certified Board Member of the German Knee Society (DKG). He received the “Alwin-Jäger-Award” 2013 (AGA) and the 1. Poster Price of the German Congress for Traumatology and Orthopaedics in 2009. Since 2013 he serves as an Editorial Board Member of KSSTA.
